QUEER CULTURAL

We’re going to immerse ourselves in Argentine culture.  We’ll explore dance histories, techniques, and forms, while participating in the dynamic tango culture of the city. We will be dancing at milongas most nights - enjoying live performances, music and dancing.

COMBINE A VISIT TO VIBRANT BUENOS AIRES WITH CONCENTRATED STUDIO TIME TO IMPROVE YOUR TANGO TECHNIQUES. CLASSES, PERFORMANCES AND MILONGAS WILL BE INTERSPERSED WITH CULTURAL EXPERIENCES OF ARGENTINE FOLKLORE LIKE CHACARERA AND ZAMBA. ALL WITH A FELLOW GROUP OF QUEER TRAVELERS!

As capital of Argentina and a bustling port, Buenos Aires is the national center of culture - packed with art, entertainment, street fairs, historic sites, café-going, and night life. It is also the birthplace of tango. And only in Buenos Aires can you fully embrace the dance, experience tango as a porteño - in your body and soul. We will experience traditional milongas as well as milongas callejeras, so you can feel the true popular Argentine experience. Buenos Aires is a welcoming city, often referred to as the Gay Capital of Latin America, with numerous queer-friendly neighborhoods to explore. Our tour directors and instructors are queer Argentines, dedicated to furthering queer tango and fostering a fun experience for all. For ten days, a shared studio and living quarters will be our base of operations and practice space. We'll be staying in the hip, queer neighborhood of Palermo in the north of the city - packed with restaurants, art and shopping. Throughout your stay, you’ll have plenty of time to relax, eat and explore on your own. Tuition includes accommodations, tours, performances, classes and milongas.

EAT WELL

For Argentines, meals are meant for coming together, for deeply enjoying one another and connecting. It doesn't hurt that the cuisine, heavily influenced by Spanish and Italian cooking, is delicious. From medialunas and empanadas to milanesas and asados, we will sample many of Buenos Aires gastronomical offerings. Plus, a little of what Argentina is also famous for - Malbec wine (and Bonarda, Torrontés, etc.).

STREET CULTURE

Folclore and Tango came from the streets, so we will take you to the streets, embarking on excursions to La Boca, San Telmo, Recoleta and Mataderos. We'll shop at local fairs, attend performances and also recommend cultural experiences for you to explore on your own.

Don't worry, you'll have time for a nap.
